Electrical Fit-up

Apogee Consulting Group provided electrical engineering services for the new construction of a 130,000 square foot, 4-story main office building; an associated central utilities plant (sized for two additional buildings); a 4-story parking deck; and a 300 seat auditorium. All structures are located on RTI's Research Triangle Park campus. The estimated electrical construction cost was $2,000.000. Highlights of this project include:

• The design of multiple systems - power distribution, lighting, telecom/data, fire alarm, life safety and security systems.
• All designs were engineered to incorporate LEED® Gold Certification standards with features such as a building-wide lighting design utilizing photo-sensors for daylight harvesting time clocks and occupancy sensors with zone overrides. and LEED^® Certification was achieved.
• The server room housed RTI's international computer servers, and was designed with two parallel-redundant, 900 kVA, flywheel type UPS p ower supplies.
• The back-up electrical power design included a legally-required 1,500 kW diesel generator with a three-day fuel supply tank.
