Electrical Testing and Corrections

The VA Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming is a campus-style medical facility. Apogee is providing electrical and mechanical engineering services for the evaluation and upgrade of electrical systems throughout the VAMC campus.  This project encompasses:

  • Evaluation and upgrade of branch circuits to eliminate overloads;
  • Consolidation of service equipment;
  • Evaluation and specification of energy efficient lighting:
    • Replacement of all existing T12 fluorescent lamps and ballasts with new T8 lamps and ballasts;
    • Implementation of solar-power parking lot lighting;
    • Addition of emergency lighting to Building 6.
  • Testing of existing circuit breakers, transformers and transfer switches according to NETA standards;
  • Upgrade of automatic transfer switch controls;
  • Replacement of existing 600kW generator;
  • Evaluation and upgrade of the campus fire alarm and public address systems, to include:
    • Provision of additional fire alarm smoke detectors and flow and tamper switches to meet current VA standards;
    • Addition of fire alarm and public address systems to Building 6;
    • Upgrade of the motherboard in the existing fire alarm control panel; and
    • Addition of select evacuation capabilities and controls to the fire alarm system .
  • Upgrade of data lines and connections.
