VA Marion Historic Gym Renovation
This project is currently ongoing, and involves a complete renovation of this historic structure in active daily use. Some improvements include:
- Improving the thermal envelope of the structure
- Upgrading window units for enhanced operation and thermal efficiency
- Complete replacement of water heating system with new high efficiency gas fired system
- Improved efficiency plumbing with new low flow water closets, urinals and faucets – all with automatic flush valves
- Installation of new efficient Water Source Heat Pumps to replace old steam system
- New lighting design with energy efficient lighting that exceeds the new energy codes. This was accomplished by using LED lamp sources and a combination of occupancy sensors and daylight harvesting sensors to save on lighting energy costs
- The emergency lighting system will be replaced with new lighting wall packs that will be connected to the electrical lighting system. These battery powered units will include a self-diagnostic charging system that is self-contained in the unit, allowing the unit to last for a full 90 minutes of operation.
