West Wing Renovations

Apogee Consulting Group is providing engineering design and project management for the complete renovation of approximately 12,000 square feet within the fifth floor of the West Wing at the Wilmington VAMC.  Formerly comprised of office and clinical space, the newly renovated space will primarily house the Eye Clinic, with any surplus space to be used for specialty clinics.

Highlights of the development process and the design will entail:

• Design development with input from VA staff to ensure an efficient and functional space;
• Development of the interior to be closely coordinated with VA Environmental Management Services (EMS);
• Implementation of all applicable VA guidelines;
• Provision of 75% complete design to an independent Fire and Safety firm designated by the VA for review, and incorporation of any review findings into the 100% design;
• Implementation of infection and dust control measures;
• Assessment and design of asbestos abatement measures, such as pipe lagging and floor tile mastic;
• A new floor plan and surface finishes for new occupancy use;
• Completely renovated utilities.
