U.S. Courthouse Annex and Alteration

As part of a design/build team, Apogee provided electrical engineering and lighting design for the renovation of and the addition to the historic Charles R. Jonas Federal Courthouse in Charlotte NC.

Originally constructed in 1915, the Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and stands as an excellent example of Neoclassical Revival architecture.

The renovation and addition provide a total of 10 courtrooms: three district, two senior district, one district special proceedings, two magistrate, and two bankruptcy courtrooms.

Additionally, new space is dedicated to the U.S. Circuit, District, and Magistrate courts, the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Probation Office, U.S. Public Defenders, U.S. Attorney’s Office and the GSA’s public buildings service.
