Project
VA New Albany Community Based Outpatient Clinic
A modern, daylight-filled VA clinic designed to enhance Veteran care with efficient workflows, sustainable systems, and secure, resilient site planning.
Apogee is delivering full architectural and engineering services for the new New Albany VA Clinic, a modern outpatient facility designed to enhance Veteran care through efficient planning, sustainable systems, and a healing-focused environment. The one-story clinic features a refined PACT-based layout with clear on-stage/off-stage circulation, centralized reception, naturally lit team and group rooms, and a welcoming 20-foot-tall entry lobby.
The site design provides separate staff and visitor parking, shaded pedestrian routes, EV charging, and CPTED-aligned landscaping. A dedicated outdoor gait-training space with shading and privacy supports Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation services. The building envelope incorporates high-performance glazing, durable masonry, and energy-efficient roof and wall assemblies.
Mechanical and electrical systems emphasize reliability and efficiency, with roof-mounted VAV air handlers, condensing boilers, BAS controls, and resilient IT and electrical distribution. High-efficiency fixtures, controlled daylighting, waste-diversion practices, and envelope performance contribute to the project’s goal of achieving Two Green Globes certification.
Physical security features include FSL II–compliant standoff distances, bollards and seatwall barriers, laminated glazing, controlled access points, and integrated electronic security systems. Apogee’s design also incorporates numerous enhancements—including improved staff collaboration zones, expanded natural light, better equipment access, and optimized workflow areas—to elevate both patient and staff experience.
