VA Richmond: New Water Tower

Apogee Consulting Group served as the prime contractor for this design-bid-build project.

Our task was to create design documents to construct a 1,000,000-gallon water tank at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, which was installed, along with associated site and utility improvements.

The site was adjacent to a parking lot and partially surrounded by a security fence with an approximately 3,000-SF concrete pad to be used as parking and staging for maintenance activities.

Improvements at the tower location include a four-foot concrete strip around the base and concrete access drives from a parking lot to the tower. Security fencing with a sliding was added along with a new 12-inch water main approximately 1,400 feet in length.

Some sidewalk, curb and pavement replacement were needed along with 560 feet of 18-inch pipe drain line for the tank, which connects to an inlet.
